In the past, he also served as the Taliban regime's ambassador to Pakistan. Now he serves as a representative of Afghan President Hamid Karzai in negotiations with the Taliban. In a recent interview with an Indian weekly magazine, Abdul Hakim Mujahid discusses the recent release of Taliban prisoners by the United States and the December 2012 peace talks involving the Taliban and Afghan government officials held in Chantilly, France.
