On December 11, 2011, the English-language jihadi forum Ansar Al-Mujahideen published an article by one of its prominent members, who uses the handle "Ansar," in which he urged jihadis, especially those wishing to carry out lone-wolf attacks in the West, to place a priority on their personal safety and operational security. The article, titled "[To] Jihadi Groups/Lone Wolf [Attackers]: Strong Security Is of Great Importance," stressed that notwithstanding the desire of many mujahideen to die at the hands of the enemy and thus attain martyrdom, they must safeguard themselves in order to preserve the mujahideen's force. It also emphasized that the mujahideen must study the technology the enemy is using against them in order to gain the upper hand.
