EXCLUSIVE: AQIM Leader Calls On Libyan Muslims To Mobilize To Defend Benghazi, Attacks General Haftar, 'The Protégé Of America'

On October 9, 2016, Al-Andalus, the official media organ of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), released an audio recording in which the group's leader, Abu Mus'ab 'Abd Al-Wadoud, attacks General Khalifa Haftar and calls on Muslims to join the mujahideen in their defense of the city of Benghazi. The recording, titled "Benghazi and the Campaign for Steadfastness," was made on October 6, and published on Al-Andalus' Telegram channel, among other places.

 

EXCLUSIVE: ISIS Announces Death Of Central Media Figure, Abu Muhammad Al-Furqan

 

On October 10, 2016, the Islamic State (ISIS) announced the passing of Abu Muhammad Al-Furqan, whom it described as the Head of its Central Media Diwan (Department). ISIS did not note the circumstances surrounding Al-Furqan's death, merely stating that he was "martyred." ISIS also threatened the "nation of the Cross" and its allies with retaliation for his death.

 

EXCLUSIVE: Portuguese Ex-Con Convert Expresses Desire to Immigrate To Islamic State, Chats With ISIS Recruiter

A convert from Madeira, Portugal is an active member of a large pro-ISIS clique on Facebook. According to his Facebook posts, he was previously imprisoned, and reveals that he learned a lot about Islam while inside. Although he does not divulge much about his past, he stated that he once had aimed to become a famous rapper or major drug dealer. As is the case with some other Western ISIS supporters, he occasionally refers in his posts to aspects of popular Western youth culture, such as rap and video.

 

Pro-ISIS Telegram Account Offers Tactical Tips To Lone Wolves In Saudi Arabia

On October 5, 2016, Pro-ISIS Telegram channel Wahj Al-Jazrawieen published a document featuring tactical tips for lone wolves in Saudi Arabia to use before, during, and after jihadi operations. The document, titled "Tips to the Lions of the Peninsula," provided detailed logistical and operational tips to prospective attackers including the type of materials they need to carry, what food to eat, what color clothing to wear, how to discard of trash, and how to use ammunition.

 

ISIS Shows Images Of Its Fighters Receiving 'Moral Guidance' In Garrison

On October 13, 2016, the Islamic State (ISIS) media office of Hama province posted two images of its fighters receiving what it called "moral guidance" while garrisoned somewhere in the province. The images show a group of ISIS fighters sitting in front of a laptop, with the image of an unidentified man wearing glasses appearing on the screen. 

 

Warning - Graphic: ISIS Pictorial Report Shows Stoning Of Homosexuals, Adulterer In Al-Furat Province

On October 10, 2016, the Islamic State (ISIS) released a pictorial report documenting aspects of the implementation of its shari'a-based punishments in the western sectors of its Al-Furat province, that extends over parts of eastern Syria and western Iraq. The photos show a large audience gathered to watch the punishments, which included the stoning of two homosexuals and of a married man convicted of adultery, and the amputation of two men's hands for theft.  

 

On Telegram, Taliban Issues Statement, Threats Of U.S. Invasion Of Afghanistan

On October 7, 2016, the Taliban's official Telegram channel posted an entry titled "Statement of Islamic Emirate Regarding 15th Anniversary of American Invasion In Statements." According to the statement, because of the U.S. presence in Afghanistan, the country is now one of the poorest nations in the world, and despite its abundant natural resources, it has advanced very little. The statement also blames the country's rampant government corruption and instability on the American presence, and concludes with an ultimatum to the Americans in Afghanistan to leave, or else "the believing Afghan nation will continue their legitimate struggle under the leadership of the Islamic Emirate, until the invaders are expelled from the country like the previous ones, [w]hen you will have lost tens of thousands more troops and wasted hundreds of billions of more dollars in exchange for a historical and humiliating defeat."
