In the past few months, ISIS has been fighting for control of the town with Kurdish forces that are supported by the U.S.-led coalition. At the same time, ISIS members recognize the organization's heavy losses, lamenting the large number of fighters fallen in Kobane. Notably, ISIS supporters have begun to refer to the town, known in ISIS as 'Ayn Al-Islam ('Eye of Islam'), as 'Ayn Al-Shuhada ('Eye of the Martyrs').
