Ahmad Taha Al-Naqr, spokesman for the Egyptian National Association for Change, recently said that the Muslim Brotherhood had "adopted the policy of the Jews, and they are implementing it to the letter." In a statement on the Egyptian ON TV channel on August 14, 2013, Al-Naqr said that the Muslim Brotherhood had orchestrated the massacre at Cairo's Rabaa al-Adawiya Square that day "in the same style as the historical Masada massacre of the Jews" in order to present themselves as victims and bring about foreign intervention in Egyptian affairs. Hundreds were killed on August 14 when Egyptian security forces forcibly dispersed the six-week long sit-ins at Rabaa Al-Adawiya Square and at Al-Nahda Square by supporters of ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi and of the Muslim Brotherhood.
The National Association for Change, founded in 2010 and headed by Mohamed ElBaradei, is a loose grouping of Egyptians of many political and religious affiliations, calling for political reforms. In addition to his role as the association's spokesman, Al-Naqr is a journalist, who writes for several Egyptian newspapers.
