Taliban Magazine Compares Obama With Gorbachev Before Troop Withdrawals From Afghanistan, Says: 'Once The Mujahideen Secure Afghanistan [In 2014], Then Uzbekistan And Pakistan Are Soon To Follow'

In its recent issue, the Taliban magazine Azan sought to compare U.S. President Barack Obama with Mikhail Gorbachev, the Soviet leader who presided over the break-up of the USSR in the late-1980s and early-1990s. It claims that 30 American states are campaigning for secession from the U.S.

The article, titled "The American Gorbachev," is meant to draw parallels between the state of the USSR under the leadership of Mikhail Gorbachev on the eve of the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan in 1989 with that of the United States under the leadership of Barack Obama amid the upcoming U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2014. ...
