MTJ Fatwa: Attacks In The West Outweigh Jihad In Syria

The Minbar Al-Tawhid Wal-Jihad (MTJ) website provides religious, ideological and jurisprudential guidance to adherents of the Salafi-jihadi creed worldwide. On February 9, 2013, it posted a fatwa by a prominent member of its Shari'a Committee, Abu Mundhir Al-Shinqiti, in response to a query sent in by a reader. The latter, who called himself "the Westernizer" [al-mughtarib], said that he lives in a Western country, and asked whether he should leave his country to fight on one of the jihad fronts - such as Syria or Yemen - or else stay and wage jihad at home, for example by raising money for the mujahideen, sabotaging his country's infrastructures, or even carrying out a lone wolf terrorist attack....
