In Interviews, Sirajuddin Haqqani And Two Other Taliban Commanders Articulate Global Jihad And Discuss Jihadi Activities In Afghan Provinces

In separate interviews, excerpts from which are given below, key Taliban commanders Sirajuddin Haqqani, Mullah Mohammad Nadir Haqju, and Maulvi Abdul Ghani discuss jihadi activities in Afghanistan. Of the three named here, Sirajuddin Haqqani is the most influential militant commander, whose fighters have been mainly responsible for reviving the Taliban's war against the U.S. and NATO forces throughout Afghanistan since 2006. In addition to his leading role in jihad throughout Afghanistan, Sirajuddin Haqqani is also the Taliban's shadow governor of Khost province. In his interview, Sirajuddin Haqqani once again rejects the U.S. position that his Haqqani Network is not part of the Taliban in Afghanistan. However, critically, Haqqani propounds a view of global jihad in the interview.
