Recently, the Pakistani branch of Hizb ut-Tahrir, a global Islamist network campaigning for the revival of the Islamic caliphate, condemned the Iranian rulers for sending troops to assist Syrian ruler Bashar Al-Assad. In an open statement and a letter submitted[1] to the Iranian missions in Pakistan, the group also accused the Iranian leaders of working to further American hegemony by supporting Assad, and thereby preventing the emergence of a global Islamic caliphate. It also warned that Muslims in Iran, like their counterparts in the Arab world, will rise up against the Iranian rulers.
