Following are excerpts from an interview with Egyptian film star Nour Al-Sharif, which aired on CBC TV on October 6, 2011:
Nour Al-Sharif: "Nowadays, freedom of speech is completely guaranteed. One may criticize God and call it freedom of speech. One may criticize Moses, Jesus, or our Prophet Muhammad, and say this is freedom of speech. But when it comes to the Holocaust, there is no freedom of speech.
"In the first episode of the show 'Don't Be Afraid,' I included the question: 'Is the Holocaust more sacred than Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, or Mary?' I'd like someone to answer me. The international forces, our rulers, or the world – I'd like someone to answer me.
"The Holocaust… The number of victims has not been 100% proven historically. When a Frenchman wrote a Ph.D. dissertation, in which he proved that the [gas] chambers were a Jewish... an Israeli lie, they revoked his doctorate. That's another thing – the Israeli lobby has infiltrated France so deeply that the Sorbonne revoked a doctoral degree that it had awarded a researcher. […]
"It is in our interest [as Arab countries] to stick to one another. This means that we will have a strong economy, and we will produce our own weapons. With all due respect, all the Arab armies buy their arms from Europe and the U.S. Do you realize that if America stops sending you ammunition, your weapons will become scrap metal? Weapons for which you paid billions will turn into scrap metal if they do not send you ammunition." […]
