On October 11, 2011, following Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula's (AQAP) confirmation of the death of American citizens Anwar Al-Awlaki and Samir Khan, the English-language jihadi forum Ansar Al-Mujahideen (AMEF) published a eulogy, in which the forum's administrators praised Al-Awlaki for having had the courage to speak the truth even at the risk of being arrested, and for coming to Yemen to actively wage jihad. Khan was praised for his online activity as an English-speaking contributor to jihadi forums and a blogger.
