Former Speaker of the Muslim Brotherhood Kamal Al-Hilbawi: The Camp David Accord Is Unjust and Must Be Amended

Following are excerpts from an interview with Kamal Al-Hilbawi, former speaker of the Muslim Brotherhood, which aired on Al-Mehwar TV (Egypt) on April 27, 2011.

Interviewer: "I would like to know your position regarding the Camp David Accord."

Kamal Al-Hilbawi: "Did the Berlin wall fall, or is it still standing?"

Interviewer: "It fell."

Kamal Al-Hilbawi: "Were the Eastern European countries liberated, or not?"

Interviewer: "They were."

Kamal Al-Hilbawi: "Were the countries of central Asia liberated, or not? What are agreements worth when they are based on injustice and occupation?"

Interviewer: "What does it mean?"

Kamal Al-Hilbawi: "It means that the Camp David Accord is not sacred. This is not part of the Koran, the Sunna, the New Testament, or the Torah. This is unjust agreement that must be reexamined and amended. We are not opposed to agreement or to world peace. We are the people who are most interested in world peace. However, if there is an unjust agreement, it must be reexamined." […]
