The latest issue of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula's (AQAP) English-language magazine Inspire, published on January 16, 2011, features an article by American jihadist Samir Khan, who discusses the essential reason that causes Muslims to become jihadists. Khan, a former resident of North Carolina, started out as an internet jihadist, and later moved to Yemen where he joined AQAP. It is believed that he currently plays a key role in the propaganda that the group directs at Western audiences.
