On September 24, 2010, a call for Muslims living in the West to execute autonomist jihadi operations was posted on one of the jihadi web forums. The post, aimed specifically at Muslims living in the U.S. and Europe, consisted of detailed instructions for making a car bomb – with a reference to the failed Times Square attack. The post, on the Shumukh Al-Islam forum, was titled "To the Brothers in the West: Autonomous Jihad is the Means for an Absolute Victory."
The post begins with an introduction that includes a call for Muslims living in the West to wage jihad. This is followed by the car-bomb instructions.

"Dear brothers, this [post] is a basic lesson on how to booby-trap a car using simple and available material found in any household… This lesson is directed especially at the brothers [living] in America and Europe – [brothers] who are [considered] the sharp spearhead in the battle against the Crusader enemy. And if any of them [i.e. Muslims in the West] can carry out a major operation in one of the European cities [in a country] that is participating in the war against the Muslims, it might result in that country's withdrawal from the war – as we witnessed with Spain's withdrawal from Iraq after the blessed Madrid attacks.
