Following the designation of Pakistan-based militant commander Ilyas Kashmiri by the U.S. and the United Nations as a global terrorist, an Indian website examined the history and international network built by his Harkat ul-Jihad al-Islami (HuJI).
Ilyas Kashmiri, a former soldier of the Pakistan Army who initially headed the
Pakistani Kashmir chapter of HuJI, also heads Brigade 313, a unit of Al-Qaeda. Along with the Haqqani Network, he was behind the December 31, 2009, attack on the CIA base in Afghanistan's Khost province.
