Two Recent MEMRI JTTM Reports:Interview with Wanted Saudi Terrorist Salih Al-Qar'awi Reveals Lebanese Group's Al-Qaeda Connections; Salafi-Jihadis from Gaza, Nazareth Post Eulogies for Caucasus Emirate Leader Anzor Astemirov - While Khaled Mash'al Condemns Moscow Bombings

The following are two reports from the MEMRI Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor.

The first report is about wanted Saudi terrorist Salih bin 'Abdallah Al-Qar'awi, and a recent interview with him that reveals the Al-Qaeda connections of the group he commands, the 'Abdallah 'Azzam Brigades.

The second report is about eulogies by Salafi-jihadis in Gaza and Nazareth for Caucasus Emirate leader Anzor Astemirov – as well as condemnation by Hamas political bureau head Khaled Mash'al of the March 29, 2010 Moscow bombing.

Salafi-Jihadis from Gaza and Nazareth Post Eulogies for Caucasus Emirate Leader Anzor Astemirov – While Khaled Mash'al Condemns Moscow Bombings

Slain Chief Qadi of the Caucasus Emirate Anzor Astemirov; the frame is taken from a video message he sent to Abu Muhammad Al-Maqdisi in 2009.

Salafi-jihadi organizations from Gaza and Nazareth have published eulogies for the slain Chief Qadi of the Caucasus Emirate Anzor Astemirov. These eulogies reflect the influence of Abu Muhammad Al-Maqdisi, a key patron of the Palestinian groups who had also taken Astemirov under his wing. The Palestinians' embrace of the Caucasus Emirate is also a means for them to claim the pan-Islamic mantle in contrast with Hamas, which has been courting Russia.
