Islamist Websites Monitor No. 4

How to Raise Your Son to Be a Terrorist

On Sunday, October 8, 2006, an Islamic website posted a series of images produced by the Izz al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, titled "How to make his [sic] son terrorist." [1]

The images show various methods which are supposedly effective in imbuing children with terrorist aspirations. The first image is a montage showing an infant in the center, with a picture of Osama bin Laden on the right, and the image of Yahya Ayyash, the legendary Hamas explosives engineer, on the left. The infant is wearing a green Kata'ib Al-Qassam (Al-Qassam Brigades) ribbon on his forehead. Below that is a picture of three horsemen and a caption saying "The horses' backs were our cradles, and on them we followed our ancestors [in Jihad]."

Two other pictures (see below) show an infant placed in front of a computer screen displaying scenes of jihad.

Palestinian Jihadi Organizations Invited to Join Al-Qaeda

On October 8, 2006, an Islamist website posted a document titled "A Call to Join the Al-Qaeda Organization in Palestine," which urged the Palestinian jihadi organizations to take an oath of allegiance to Osama bin Laden and to join the ranks of Al-Qaeda, as their brothers in Egypt and Algeria have done. The document claimed that for reasons related to security, it was not possible to establish a Shura council in Palestine like the one established in Iraq, since those joining Al-Qaeda in Palestine needed to act as independent cells in order to prevent infiltration of their ranks. The document was unsigned.

Complaints of Additional Insults to Islam in the Danish Media

Several Islamist websites complained about Danish television, saying that on October 6, 2006, it had broadcast a videotape containing images offensive to Islam. The videotape showed young members of the youth wing of the Danish People's Party (referred to on the websites as an "extremist right-wing" party) laughing at the Prophet Muhammad and drawing him as a camel drinking beer and as a drunk terrorist bombing Copenhagen.

Al-Hakayma Accuses the Al-Hisba Website of Spying on Muslims

Muhammad Khalil Al-Hakayma, whose name was featured in an Al-Qaeda videotape when Ayman Al-Zawahiri publicly announced that he had joined the organization, posted, on an Islamist website, a warning against the Al-Hisba website, which he accused of revealing the personal details of its users and thus leading to their arrest.

[1] The term "terrorist," as used here, is devoid of any negative connotations. Please note, on the website it says "How to make your son a terrorist," but the original English translation on the website translates it, "How to make his son a terrorist."
