Hasan Rahimpur Azghadi of the Iranian Supreme Council for Cultural Revolution: We Are Stronger Than America and the West

Source: Channel 1 (Iran)

Following are excerpts from a public address delivered by Hasan Rahimpur Azghadi, Iranian Supreme Council for Cultural Revolution, which aired on Channel 1, Iranian TV on June 5, 2006:

Hasan Rahimpur Azghadi: The power of America and the West relies on dollar, the media, and weapons, whereas our power relies on the masses, on their awareness, and on humanity's desire for freedom. We are stronger than them. We are stronger than them. We have this power, but we lack the courage to use it.

[...]

Imam [Khomeini] spoke officially and clearly about exporting the revolution. He said: "We will export our revolution to the entire world." As we see, that's what he did. The Imam raised the ideal of establishing the united Islamic nation, and the union of the Islamic masses. He made the annihilation of Israel the official slogan of the Islamic Republic, declaring: "Israel must be annihilated." The Imam said that if the superpowers confront our religion, we will confront their entire world. He said: "We will crush the claws of America in the Middle East and throughout the world."

[...]

Imam [Khomeini] said that the Palestinian issue would not be resolved through peace talks and concessions, but through Jihad and martyrdom. He even called Arafat a traitor.

[...]

When the Imam said that "the relations with the America are like the relations between a wolf and a sheep," he meant that the tension in these relations would continue until America renounces its imperialist essence – and it is not about to do so for the time being. The Imam was talking about the struggle between Islam and America, not about compromising with America. He said: "We will not allow you to have interests in the world of Islam." He talked about the need to set up Hizbullah cells throughout the world, and said: "The Islamic awakening will conquer all the main strongholds around the world." The Imam had even more explicit sentences.

[...]

Doesn't America itself declare officially that after the collapse of Communism, the new cold and warm wars would be against Islam? In the past, they polarized the world in the name of the struggle against Communism, and today they are doing it in the name of the struggle against terrorism.

Why do we not assume responsibility for leading the world of Islam, even though we are, in fact, its leaders? Why does America officially declare that it is the leader of the world and of the West? Since World War II, for 60 years, it has defined this role for itself, and after the fall of the USSR, it consolidated this status.

Today, its absolute rule is being threatened by the Islamic awakening, which ranges from Malaysia and the Philippines to the Balkans in the heart of Europe, from Central Asia to North Africa. Now the Muslim minority in Europe and America has become the strongest and most threatening minority. We have formed a strong spiritual and political bloc. "We" does not mean you and me, it means Imam [Khomeini] and the martyrs. A strong spiritual and political bloc has been formed in the world, under the banner of Islam and Imam [Khomeini].

I Ask the [Iranian] foreign ministry: Why don't we assume responsibility for this leadership? Why don't we have even one percent of the courage of America, which took upon itself the responsibility to rule the world? Why don't we take upon ourselves the responsibility for leading the Islamic awakening? Why shouldn't we be the spokesmen for the Islamic world? Why do they decide for everybody? Why shouldn't we decide for them?
