Egyptian DePaul University Professor Mahmoud Cherif Bassiouni Supports Camp David Accords and Says: The Palestinians Always Miss Historic Opportunities

Following are excerpts of an interview with Egyptian professor Mahmoud Cherif Bassiouni of DePaul University, Chicago, which aired on Tahrir TV on December 25, 2012:

Mahmoud Cherif Bassiouni: The first problem was that following the Camp David Accords, the Palestinians were required to start negotiations [with Israel]. The Palestinians refused to do so, and thus, missed the opportunity. The Palestinians’ problem is that whenever an historic opportunity presents itself, they want more. They reject the offer at hand, missing out on the opportunity, and later they start chasing the opportunity that, by then, is gone.

The Israeli-Egyptian peace accord was signed between two countries, and it has proven to be a good agreement – Israel has not attacked Egypt, or vice versa.
