Following are excerpts from a zoo inauguration ceremony attended by Moroccan Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, which was posted on the Internet on January 10, 2012.

Reporter: His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Hassan inaugurated the new national zoo in Rabat. The zoo consists of ecosystems in the form of nature reserves housing various endangered species of local and imported birds and animals. The Rabat zoo was based upon the concept of open spaces.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Hassan cut the ceremonial ribbon, inaugurating this natural space which extends over 50 hectares.

The animals are displayed in a way that simulates their natural habitat, and encourages tourism, culture, and scientific research.
