Following are excerpts from an interview with Lebanese Shiite scholar Hani Fahs, which aired on Future News TV on March 5, 2012 :

Hani Fahs : It is not true that the Iranian people supports Palestine. The same goes for the Arab countries. Some Arab regimes, like Saddam's and others, used Palestine as a pretext, which made people hate this and other causes.

Interviewer : So the Iranian people was led to hate Palestine?

Hani Fahs : If you are the ruler, and I have reservations about you… I need my liberty, my democracy, my bread, my education, and so on, yet you, the ruler, ignore these demands – whether you are right or wrong – and you insist on the Palestinian cause. When in Iran, I heard people shouting slogans against Palestine.
