Following are excerpts from an interview with Taysir Khaled, a member of the PLO Executive Committee, which aired on Palestinian Authority TV on September 22, 2011.

Taysir Khaled: Yesterday, [Obama] talked about the suffering of the Jews. We too talk about the suffering of the Jews, and we are against the suffering of the Jews in the days of the barbaric Nazi rule. But this was 70 years ago.

He forgets that the victims of the Nazi beast are practicing the same criminal methods. Barack Obama has forgotten this. He must bear in mind that the Palestinian people is paying a high price on a daily basis – in its life, in its property, in its present and its future, because of the terrorist deeds of the victims of the Nazi beast.

He mustn't remind us of the victims of the Nazi beast – we are familiar with them. But at the same time, we know that we are the victims of those who live off a past that happened 70 years ago.
