Following are excerpts
from a TV report on Iranian military power, which aired on Al-Manar
TV on June 20, 2011:
Reporter: Iranian
contempt for the Zionist maneuvers, considering them to be a "turning
point" in the level of fear among the Israeli enemy – the Iranian
army believes that no matter how many Zionist military maneuvers there
are, they would not be on a par with an Iranian response, which, according
to Tehran, would bring an end to the Zionist entity.
Gen. Mohammad Reza
Naqdi, Commander of the Basij: If the Zionist entity carries out
any act of stupidity against us, our response will not merely be the
liberation of Jerusalem. Let me tell you that within the next ten years,
we will witness the end of this entity. It is too weak to attack Iran.
It is undergoing times of great weakness, and it cannot continue. What
it is doing is trying to convince itself that it is strong.
Reporter: The
ruling out of the possibility of war against Iran, and the conviction
that the Zionists, and even the Americans, are incapable of attacking
Iran militarily, is attributed by politicians here to Iran's military
response capabilities, especially with missiles, which is part of the
defense strategy which keeps the threat of war against the country at
bay.
Iranian Parliament
member Sharsaf Hosni: Today, Iran is fully capable of defending
itself. We have means to ensure that the Zionist entity and its American
protectors are incapable of taking action against us. The Zionists know
that attacking us is impossible. If they could, they would have done
so long ago, because this is what they dream of.
Reporter: It is
Iran's undeclared military capabilities that are of concern to its enemies.
Any attack – whether limited or large-scaled – will generate a response
that will light a fire that will be difficult to extinguish. The Iranian
response to the source of fire will be on land, air, and sea, especially
in the Gulf region, where the oil supply will be halted, in the event
that Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz.
