Following are excerpts
from a religious program with Abu Dhabi TV host Dr. Khalifa Al-Swaidi,
which aired on Abu Dhabi TV on January 17, 2011:
Dr. Khalifa Al-Swaidi:
My first piece of advice to people – both men and women – is to
avoid sources of sexual arousal, which, unfortunately, exist in our
society. Keep away from promiscuous filthy movies, which are inappropriate
for men of high moral fiber. Keep away from YouTube, and the rubbish
one finds there. Keep away from the bustling markets, which may arouse
the urges and all that is wrong in the lives of men. Don't put yourself
to the test. Therefore, my first piece of advice is to stay away from
sources of sexual arousal.
My second piece of advice,
which has been proven to benefit men and women, is to practice sports
on a daily basis, especially in the evenings. When teenagers go to bed,
I would like them to be tired to the point of exhaustion, having carried
out intense muscle activity, which reduced his sexual drive, which he
cannot release with a lawfully married wife.
The Prophet Muhammad
– and this is my third piece of advice – recommended fasting: "Fast
and you shall be healthy."

Train yourselves to fast
by reducing certain foods, especially those that are sexually stimulating,
such as ginger, which is very popular in the Gulf region.
My fourth piece of advice
to men and women is to act upon their sexual desires with their wives,
and not to hesitate to be creative. In other words, do not build a barrier
between you and your wife. Don't say: That's my wife, the mother of
my children, how can I do such things to her? She is the satisfier of
your urges, and Allah will reward you for this. Try to train yourself
and your wife to be sexually creative, in a permitted way. Bear in mind
that every time you have sex, Allah rewards you, because you released
your sexual drive in a permitted, rather than forbidden, way.
