Following are excerpts
from an interview with Adel Al-Feitouri, a Libyan army officer fighting
with the rebels in Ras Lanuf. The interview aired on Al-Jazeera TV March
8, 2011.
Adel Al-Feitouri:
Allah willing, we will march on Sirte and liberate it. Then we will
move on to the Bab Al-Azizia military barracks [in Tripoli], and crush
the place.
We will catch the rat
who called us "rats." He is not a real man. If he were, he
would come to fight us on the battlefront. Someone who strikes with
airplanes... Yesterday, he struck with airplanes, hitting [peaceful]
families. This is not a real man. This is not something real men would
do.
Real men face one another
on the battlefield. If he and his sons were men, they would face us
on the battlefield. Where is he?! Where are his sons?!

Allah willing, we will
march on Sirte. We started with a peaceful demonstration, but he wanted
war – so let there be war.
The tribes came from
the east and from the west. These are young rebels. I'm not talking
about the army. The army fused with the youth. They don't want anything
but freedom and democracy. They want Mu'ammar Al-Qadhafi to stand trial.
Interviewer: Why
don't you proceed to the city of Bin Jawad?
Adel Al-Feitouri:
In Bin Jawad, they [Al-Qadafi's loyalists] entered the houses, and turned
the families into human shields. We don't want to harm these families.
This would not be a heroic thing to do.
