Libyan Leader Qadhafi Meets with Released Lockerbie Terrorist Abd Al-Baset Al-Megrahi

Following are excerpts from a report on Libyan Leader Qadhafi's meeting with released Lockerbie terrorist Abd Al-Baset Ali Al-Megrahi, which aired on Al-Jamahiriya TV on August 22, 2009:

Anchor: Last night, the Leader of the Revolution and Head of the African Union [Qadhafi] received Libyan citizen Abd Al-Baset Ali Al-Megrahi and his family. At the beginning of the meeting, the Leader of the Revolution conveyed a message to our friends and those who opposed them.

Mu'ammar Al-Qadhafi: To our friends in Scotland – the Scottish National Party, the PM and the foreign minister – I congratulate them on their courage. They have demonstrated the independence of their decision making, despite the unacceptable and unreasonable pressure they were facing. Despite this, they made this brave, appropriate, and humane decision.

[...]

I [thank] my friend [Gordon] Brown, Prime Minister of Britain, his government, Queen Elizabeth, and Prince Andrew, for helping to encourage the government of Scotland to make this historic and courageous decision, despite all the opposition.
