Former Egyptian Belly Dancer: Kissinger Was a Fan, Named His Horses After Me

#4514 | 01:27
Source: Mehwar TV (Egypt)

Nagwa Fouad, a movie starlet and belly dancer in her youth, was interviewed by the Egyptian channel Mehwar TV on September 17, 2014. Fouad was asked about rumors that former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger was in love with her. She answered that she was not sure, but confirmed that Kissinger had married a woman who looked like her and named his horses Nagwa and Fouad after her.

Following are excerpts:

Host: It is true that Henry Kissinger married a woman who looked like you, and bought two horses, naming one Nagwa and the other Fouad, because he was so in love with you?

Nagwa Fouad: Yes.

Host: Really?

Nagwa Fouad: Absolutely. I don't know if he was in love with me or just a fan. As a matter of fact, I don't think it was love, because...

Host: But he married a woman who looked like you and named his horses Nagwa and Fouad!

Nagwa Fouad: She looked a bit like me and a bit like Dalida, and she was very tall. As for the two horses, I don't know what to say. I can't explain it.

Host: Isn't it true that when Jimmy Carter came to Egypt, he went looking for you, saying: 'I need to see the woman Kissinger is in love with'?

Nagwa Fouad: Yes.

Host: So there you have it...

Nagwa Fouad: Let me tell you, Carter did ask that question, but I never met Kissinger or asked him if he loved me. I didn't even know how to speak English.
