In an interview on the official Palestinian Authority TV, cleric 'Imad Hamato said: "True Jihad is in Palestine in defense of the holy places and of Jerusalem." The interview aired on September 15, 2014.
Following is an excerpt:
'Imad Hamato: We were attacked violently in the Gaza war. I spoke with you during the war. We witnessed great tragedies: over 2,200 martyrs and the destruction of 30,000 homes. These are terrifying figures that we saw during this war. Nevertheless, we felt a sense of pride, because this war restored to the Arab and Islamic nation the true image of Jihad for the sake of Allah. About the Jihad in Palestine there is not the slightest doubt.
Therefore, Gaza says to the sons of the nation who want to wage true Jihad: True Jihad is in Palestine in defense of the holy places and of Jerusalem, to which the Prophet Muhammad made his nocturnal journey.
Let us break away from the illusions created by our enemies, who invented false adversaries for us in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Libya, and Somalia. They set us against one another. The Arabs are now busy building up an alliance because of ISIS or whatever. We have not seen this Arab alliance in the defense of Jerusalem, to which the Prophet made his nocturnal journey.
