Following are excerpts from an interview with Abu Hurayra Al-Amriki, an American who carried out a suicide bombing in Syria on behalf of Jabhat al-Nusra. The footage was posted on the Internet on July 25, 2014.

Abu Hurayra Al-Amriki: How am I doing?

Jihadist: How are you feeling?

Abu Hurayra Al-Amriki: Allah be praised. Allah be praised.

Jihadist: You are very [excited], right?

Abu Hurayra Al-Amriki: Very much. Allah be praised, now I am with Allah. When I came to Syria, I couldn't afford to buy a gun. Allah gave me a gun through Jabhat Al-Nusra... Allah be praised. Allah has given me much more...

I want to reach tranquility in the Afterlife. Paradise is not like this world. This world is all evil. My heart is not at peace here. Allah willing, in Paradise...

What I want more than anything is to please Allah. Pleasing Allah is even better than Paradise. It is even better than Paradise.

I want to please You, I love You, and I want to enter Paradise. Paradise is better than this situation.

Allah knows that all the people will die. Allah decides who goes to Hell and who goes to Paradise. What I want to say most of all is that I want to please You and enter Paradise.
