In a July 29 address to mark Eid Al-Fitr, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei called Israel "a rabid dog" and "a ferocious wolf," and said that the entire world should help arm the Palestinian nation. The address was broadcast on the Iranian IRINN TV channel.
Khamenei: "A rabid dog, a ferocious wolf, has attacked the oppressed people. Who could possibly be more oppressed than the innocent children who lost their lives in these attacks? Who could possibly be more oppressed than the mothers who hugged their children and watched them dying before their very eyes? The plundering infidel Zionist regime is committing these crimes, as the entire human race watches. The human race should react. The political leaders of the arrogant (West) say that Hamas and the Islamic Jihad must be disarmed. What disarmament are you talking about?! They have only a few missiles, which they use to defend themselves against enemy attacks. That is all they have, yet you want to take it away from them. They want Gaza (and all of) Palestine to be constantly vulnerable to attacks by the Zionist enemy, so that it can start a fire whenever it pleases, but the Palestinians will not be able to defend themselves. The American president issued a 'fatwa' that the resistance must be disarmed. Of course... Why wouldn't you want to disarm them? That way they would be unable to respond to these crimes in any way. We say the exact opposite: The entire world, especially the Islamic world, must help arm the Palestinian nation as much as possible."
