Following Iran's test launch of long-range ballistic missiles on March 8-9, top IRGC officials made statements on the Iranian state media. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, said on IRINN TV that they would continue to develop their missile program. "If today, we delay and are remiss in our missile and defense program, and do not spend money on it, tomorrow, we will be facing a problem," he said. IRGC Deputy Commander Hossein Salami said on Iran's Channel 1: "If our enemies want to carry out any malevolent intention against us, these missiles are ready to be launched against any target." The statements were posted on the Internet on March 14, 2016.

Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force: The [Americans] say that they will give us the blocked funds, but that we cannot use them for missile systems.

Interviewer: Do they say so explicitly?

Amir Ali Hajizadeh: Not to us. They impose their will upon our top decision-making officials. That can happen, as we see in various issues. The Americans themselves said: "We are tracking your funds, and monitoring where you spend them." what they mean is that they dictate what we cannot spend it on.

Interviewer: You are referring to the blocked funds that are being released?

Amir Ali Hajizadeh: Yes.

[Our launching pad] is in a crevice in a mountain, and no plane can easily reach, identify, or bomb it. Our country is full of hills, crevices, and ravines, as well as places covered with trees. One of our missiles, for example, was launched from among palm trees. These are hidden places, and our country has great expanses. Nobody can reach them or identify them easily. We also have silos. We use a variety of tactics. There are some things that we don't reveal.
