Fatah Spokesman Fayez Abu Aita: We Will Escalate This Popular Uprising, Could Develop into Intifada

In a recent TV interview, Fatah spokesman Fayez Abu Aita said: "We will intensify and develop this popular uprising." The uprising "will not remain at its current level. As far as we are concerned, it will gradually escalate. It could develop into an Intifada throughout our homeland," he said, in the Palestinian Authority TV interview, which aired on January 21, 2016.

Fayez Abu Aita: "The popular uprising is growing today. It has moral and material support from the Palestinian leadership and from the Fatah movement, so that it will be able to continue. The Israelis want this uprising to end, but they will not succeed in this, because this is the right of our Palestinian people. Our Palestinian people has persevered for a long time. The Palestinian leaders suffered in those negotiations like Job suffered. All the smart asses say that 20 years have passed and the negotiations have failed. We have suffered like Job, and we are not going for this popular uprising just for fun. Our people chose this option when Israel denied our rights. This option will continue and will be intensified. We will intensify and develop this popular uprising - and this is the position of the Fatah movement... so that it will spread throughout all the Palestinian lands, and will really hurt the Israeli occupation, which wishes to be an occupation without any price tag attached. Today, our people have proven that it is capable of confronting this occupation. Allah willing, this uprising will continue with these young heroes, who carry out these individual heroic acts, and with this unique popular uprising, so that our people will manage to accomplish its goals.

"This popular uprising will not remain at its current level. As far as we are concerned, it will gradually escalate. It plays an extremely significant role at this stage, but it could develop into an Intifada throughout our homeland. It depends on how much Israel succumbs to the will of the international community, and to the Palestinian people's right to end the occupation, to self-determination, and to the establishment of the Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital."
