In a recent address in Rabat, Morocco, Hamas Political Bureau member Osama Hamdan said: "We are doing well... 486 of our children were martyred in this battle, but Allah has blessed us with 4,500 babies in their places." Hamdan, the top representative of Hamas in Lebanon, further said: "In the next war, we will cross into the enemy's own turf, Allah willing," and the crowds cheered and chanted: "Millions of martyrs march towards Jerusalem." The address was delivered at the annual meeting of the Moroccan Movement for Unification and Reform on August 9, 2014.

Osama Hamdan: We are fine despite the 1,886 martyrs – and maybe today, it has reached 1,900. We are fine despite the 10,000 wounded. We are fine. 486 of our children were martyred in this battle, but Allah has blessed us with 4,500 babies in their places.

Osama Hamdan: In this battle, we saw the [Israeli] soldiers crying in their tanks. Our mujahideen saw their officers fleeing from the battlefield. Of the elite of the occupation army, the Golani and Givati brigades, 300 soldiers were killed, according to their own reports, and 2,000 soldiers were transferred to hospitals. Their chief of staff said: Our military power has been eroded by a military force whose weaponry is weaker than that of any militia.

In this war, we said that the enemy would not cross into Gaza, and indeed, it was defeated on the outskirts of Gaza. In the next war, we will cross into the enemy's own turf, Allah willing.
