Jihad Video Released by "1920 Revolution Brigades" in Iraq

This video from the Iraqi Sunni military organization Kata'ib Thawrat Al-'Ishrin ("The 1920 Revolution Brigades") was posted on the Al-Hesbah website on October 18, 2006. To view this video, please see http://switch3.castup.net/cunet/gm.asp?ai=214&ar=M4-004WMV&ak=null .

The 10-minute 30-second video, titled "Defenders of the Faith," shows scenes of destruction and killing it claims were perpetrated by the occupation forces, including shots of corpses lying in the streets and houses in flames. The soundtrack includes songs of incitement; for instance, one of them says: "Iraq is torn and wounded... The enemy acts as though he were in his own country, and shoots everywhere... I saw mosques destroyed and minarets uprooted."

The video calls on Muslims to wake up and [discard] their false illusions, to read their history and the Koran, and to liberate their land from the impurity of the infidels through jihad. While doing so, it shows footage of mujahideen firing artillery shells and waging street battles against the enemy, as well as shots of successful strikes against enemy targets (a truck burning, and a vehicle exploding as it drives over a mine).

Interspersed between these scenes are shots of various public figures, among them Saddam Hussein. At the end of the video, an unidentified sheikh is shown saying: "I was a university professor and I lived next to the holy mosque in Mecca, but these supererogatory actions [of jihad] are dearer to me than living in Mecca for years."
